Independent TD Mattie McGrath has urged all of Tipperary’s community groups who are interested in commemorating the centenary of the 1916 Rising to apply for assistance from the Tipperary 2016 Community Grants Scheme. Deputy McGrath was speaking as the August 18th deadline for funding applications fast approaches:
“The centenary of the 1916 rising will be marked by events right across the Country.
The Community Grants Scheme is one way in which Tipperary groups and organisations can be financially supported in making their contribution to that celebration.
I am therefore encouraging all interested groups to apply to the Heritage Officer in Tipperary County Council; from whom they can receive all the assistance they require in terms of lodging a successful application.
Tipperary has a proud and honourable Republican tradition which I am confident will come to the fore as the Centenary year progresses,” concluded Deputy McGrath.
