“Tipperary set to receive €115 thousand in youth project funding,” McGrath

Independent TD Mattie McGrath has welcomed the announcement of over €115 thousand in Capital Grant funding for several youth projects in North and South Tipperary. Deputy McGrath was speaking after the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone announced that projects in Thurles, Nenagh, Roscrea and Clonmel will receive funding grants ranging from ten to fifty thousand euros:
“This is certainly great news for the projects concerned and it has to be broadly welcomed.
I am particularly pleased that the Clonmel Community Youth Project (SPY) in the Elm Park Complex in Clonmel has received €50,000 for Health and Safety and disability improvements.
I also understand that €34,853 has been made available to the Roscrea Youth Service (Kickback Youth Café) at Rosemary Street for building renovation.
We all know how important it is for the entire community that we have well-resourced youth and diversion projects in place.
In light of that the announcements made today will go some way toward redressing the drastic cuts that many of these projects experienced in the last number of years and which were only kept going by the presence of a strong community and volunteering spirit.
Nenagh Youth Development Project is also set to receive €10,888 for the purchase of IT and media equipment alongside a number of related projects in the Thurles Youth Project which will receive €20,000.
I want to acknowledge the absolute dedication of all the Youth Officers and staff across the county who continue to contribute so much to the rejuvenation of our communities and who put in so much work in putting together successful applications under the Scheme,” concluded Deputy McGrath.
